This exceptional hand-carved flower vase dates to the early 20th century (Republic of China period, c.1912-1949) and is crafted from rare **Qingtian stone (Tiger Skin Pits variety)** — one of China's "Four Great Seal Stones" and a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Dimension: 5.5 inches (14cm)

**Material & Craftsmanship**
The stone displays striking natural yellow-and-black "tiger skin" patterns, a hallmark of the prized Qingtian "flower pit" material. The carver employed intricate openwork, relief, and round-carving techniques to create a dense composition of chrysanthemum blossoms, plum branches, and a perched magpie. The base is carved to resemble gnarled rockwork, showcasing the stone's crisp, responsive quality under the knife—another signature of Qingtian stone. The large, irregular opening and porous, hollowed interior are designed to hold fresh flower stems, with the openwork allowing for water drainage and air circulation.
