“PINO LANCETTI IL SARTO-PITTORE” Supervised by: Pino Lancetti Edited by: Hiroshi Tomita Published by: Sedia 241 pages 1992 Price: ¥49,440 Cloth-bound box
This is a collection of works by the Italian fashion designer Pino Lancetti. The subtitle "IL SARTO-PITTORE" likely means "the designer-painter." Lancetti's works incorporate the sensibilities of painting directly into fashion in a modern and dynamic way.
His creations draw inspiration from both Western painters like the Impressionists, Picasso, Futurists, Goya, Klimt, Kandinsky, Vasarely, Gauguin, and Matisse, as well as from ancient and modern art from around the world, including Byzantine mosaics, ancient China, and the Japanese artist Jakuchu's depictions of chickens. His work evolves year after year.
The Lancetti haute couture shop in Rome, known as the "King" of Italian haute couture, continues to create works that utilize a wonderful sense of color and imagination even after Pino Lancetti's death.
